We meet in Chengdu in the morning, and get on a bus towards Kangding. We meet our muleteers in the afternoon.

Night in Kangding.

3 day d'acclimatization on the Kora trek of Haizi Shan (Yarla in Tibetan). We start just a few dozen kilometers from Kangding, and start hiking in the afternoon.

Night around 3500m

We keep climbing at the bottom of the valley until we reach some altitude lakes around 4100m. We pitch our tents next to these lakes.

Third and last day on this acclimatization trek, we cross a pass over 4700m altitude and reach the village of Tagong by the end of the day.

Night in Tagong.

Transportation day towards the village of Zimei, starting point of the kora of Gongga shan. We enjoy our first views over "The king of Sichuan" while crossing Zimei pass around 4500m.

Night in Zimei (3400m).

A smooth start for the first day on the kora. About half day should be enough to make it to Gongga monastery where we will spend the next two nights. Breathtaking vista over mount Gongga shan !

Night at Gongga monastery (3700m).

Day hike towards the base camp of mount Gongga Shan (4100m).

Night at Gongga monastery (3700m).

We enter this morning the huge valleythat we will follow for more than two days. Forest, crystal water streams, herds of yaks and snow mountains, the nature that surround us is magnificent !

Overnight camping (3700m).

We keep following the bottom of the main valley. We eventually cross its main stream and get closer to the pass that we will target the next day.

Overnight camping (4200m).

We cross the highest pass on the route (4900m) and get back to Kangding's valley. We definitely feel the lack of oxygen but we are rewarded by incredible views over the mountains around us.

Overnight camping (4000m).

Last hiking part before we find civilization back. We reach Kangding, and (finally !) enjoy a hot shower in the afternoon.

Night in Kangding.

Safety day.
