qinghai map
gansu map

Located at the intersection of the Tibetan plateau, Gobi desert and Hexi corridor where went the route of the old silk road, Qinghai and Gansu received influences from three different important cultures: the Tibetans, the Mongols as well as the Huis, a muslim minority that originally came from central Asia. We find here endless plateau landscapes and steppes so typical here in Tibet. We find also the largest lake in China, as much known as lake Qinghai (in Mandarin) than lake Kokonor (in Mongolian), and the source of four of the longest rivers in Asia:

the Yangzi, the Yellow River, the Mekong and the Salween.

We navigate here in the ancient Tibetan kingdom of Amdo, the land of the Goloks, nomadic people famous for they barbaric past. The Goloks use to sack other Tibetan ethnic groups and at some point in History didn't hesitate to attack the caravan of the emperor of China.
Their sacred mountain Amnye Machen is 6282m high. It is considered the second holiest mountain in Tibet after Mount Kailash.
