Lijiang: lake Wenhai

Lijiang and its old town, part of UNESCO world heritage is almost a mandatory stop for anyone who travels through northern Yunnan. But if its maze of narrow streets and the views over Jade Dragon mountain are truly wonderful, the number of tourists can sometimes become a problem.

Why not leave for calm and serenity for a couple of days in the surrounding mountains? Wenbi mountain and its Tibetan temple on the South as well as lake Wenhai located in a suspended valley on the North are magnificent options easily accessible from the old town of Lijiang.

Itinerary:

D1: day hike around Wenbi mountain and visit Wenfeng Tibetan temple. Back to Lijiang for the night.

D2: climb from Shuhe towards lake Wenhai. Night at locals.

D3: descent from Wenhai to Yushui then drive back to Lijiang.
